In February of 2007, a fishing boat accidentally caught a 1,090-pound Colossal Squid and as a team of scientists at the Museum of New Zealand slowly thaw the giant Squid out, they have discovered it's a female with eyes the size of beach balls. This spectacular specimen has been thawing for three days at the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum in Wellington, New Zealand and the first discovery made was that it had eyes with lenses of 10 to 12 centimeters in diameter. A fishing trawler has collided with a smaller boat on Sydney Harbor, killing five people and injuring nine. The collision occurred early Thursday morning in cold and dark conditions, police and ambulance authorities said. All of the dead and injured were from the smaller boat.

Fishing Tip: Make bait keepers out of used soft-plastic worms and lizards. Cut them into small disks and save them in a separate bag. When you need to bait a hook with a minnow or nightcrawler, place a disk on the hook after the live bait and your offering will be harder for a fish to steal.Â
